There’s an Obsidian plugin that allows you to find similar notes based on their contents. It’s called ‘Smart Connections’, checkout the Github for it here. Below is an example of using it:

my note on medical specialties. currently considering GP, EM, or Oncology!

I’ve opened my note on all the different medical specialties that exist in Australia, and the ‘Smart Connections’ panel shows semantically related notes.

The first 5 are relatively straightforward to understand how they’re related to medicine, however the ‘2023-01-15’ is interesting.

It’s the journal entry from the day I decided to enrol into medicine instead of computer science.

I rarely reread my diary entries, and this is pretty much the perfect use-case for the plugin. It’s extremely useful for surfacing old notes on related topics. It can also be used to synthesise and consolidate information from related notes into essays or longer pieces.

Highly recommend the plugin if you use Obsidian, and also highly recommend Obsidian!

Hope you guys enjoyed, don’t forget to like and subscribe!!
