The mid-90s brought browsers and e-commerce (Amazon, eBay, etc), creating massive wealth based on software services and advertising. The trillions of dollars in market cap held by companies like Microsoft and Google are essentially a value-capture of the massive time they saved the world through software automation and productivity unlocks.

Now, the advent of AI has ushered in a new era of personalised software where anyone has the ability to create any tool/app they desire. App development is no longer gated behind years of experience and education, natural language is now enough to execute on anything.

It’s hard to understate the amount of tasks/work AI assisted coding has sped up and automated over the past few weeks. Ideas now take days at max to implement, allowing everyone to quickly improve and increase their own productivity.

I’d highly recommend everyone reading this to install an AI agent like Claude Code, Gemini CLI, Codex and just play around with their free tier. Below are some examples of things I’ve created over the past few weeks:

  1. Safari and macOS extensions for my custom to-do setup. I keep my to-do list in my Obsidian daily notes, and created an extension to display my tasks every time I open a new tab in Safari or Firefox, and also to always be present in my menubar.

  2. Booklet formatting for my tutoring company. This has massively sped up workbook creation time where tutors can focus solely on creating content rather than worrying about syntax and final formatting.

  3. A native Swift app that displays my face at all times on my MacBook screen. Seamlessly becomes transparent upon mouse hover and you can click on anything behind it. I record myself a lot in general and this has been super useful and weirdly makes me a lot more productive in general.

Genuinely there are 20+ random other projects and things I’ve worked on, might dive deeper into them in other blog posts. It truly does not matter if you’ve never coded or done anything technical before, if you have any ideas on things you’d like to create, and not sure where to start, please don’t hesitate to reach out to me!
